More Than 100,000 Volunteer on Comcast Cares Day

Thousands of New England residents participate in neighborhood improvement projects

More than 100,000 Comcast employees nationwide participated Saturday in the 15th Annual Comcast Cares Day and are working to improve their local communities.

Civic service is an important part of the corporate mission of Comcast and its founding values, said Tracy Pitcher, regional senior vice president at Comcast.

"This concept of giving back to the communities in which we work and live is in our DNA," said Pitcher, who was landscaping at the YMCA in Boston's Dorchester neighborhood.

Hundreds of volunteers were also at the site, where a miniature golf course was installed for the children at the YMCA.

Around New England, thousands of volunteers, including area residents, hundreds of CityYear workers and necn employees, are working on neighborhood improvement, painting projects and festival fun for area children.

In Lawrence, Massachusetts, volunteers worked to beautify city parks. In Manchester, New Hampshire, hundreds of volunteers gathered for spring cleaning and painting at a local elementary school.
